Photo etching

Paper size: 20 x 27cm

Unique print

Signed and numbered

Important: all photo etching prints were made during an experimental photo etching residency and hand-printed by me using a printmaking press. Prints may have 'imperfections' such as paper tear or fold, or ink stains, or may be perfectly crooked. These imperfections reflect the tactile and experimental nature this process. The image you see on this page is an unedited, un-cropped scan of the print. My intention is that this looks as close to the real print as possible, and this will show any of these imperfections the print may have.
If you don’t love imperfections, you may not love this print, and there are no hard feelings. But, if you love something that is handmade, you may love it just as it is!

This print was developed as part of the project Dança Atômica. Please see bellow for project statement:

Dança Atómica- (2018)

“...entities are not separately determinate individuals but rather inseparable parts of a single phenomenon. In particular, there are no preexisting-individually-determinate-entities-with-determinate-spatial-positions-communicating-instantaneously-at-some-remove-from-one-another outside of a phenomenon that determinately resolves the boundaries and properties of the entangled components in a way that gives meaning to the notion of individual. Indeed, “individual” is ontologically and semantically indeterminate in the absence of an apparatus that resolves the inherent indeterminacy in a way that makes this notion intelligible ”.
(Barad, 2007)

Dança Atômica is a process-driven project focused on exploring the materiality and tactility of photographic etching in printmaking and alternative processes. The project references the concept of Quantum Entanglement: the spooky attachment at a distance, where even two particles at great distances are still connected, and continue to impact one another despite not physically touching.
